Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti and his Egypt 80 band has earned a Grammy nomination for their work on Black Times. Black Times is the 2018 album of the Afrobeat singer.

The singer broke the news via his Instagram during the weekend. Black Times is nominated for the “Best World Music” category for the 2019 award.

“All my Grammy voting friends. Y’all know the vibe,” Kuti wrote in the post.

The 2019 edition will be the 61st Grammy Awards ever.

Black Times is an 8-track long project featuring Carlos Santana. The album has received great positive reviews all around the globe since it release earlier this year, March 2, 2018.

The project is a conscious Afrobeat body tackling social issues peculiar to black people and Africans alike.

Some of the tracks on the project include: “Last Revolutionary”, “Black Times”, “Kuku Kee Me” and a host of others.

The 61st Grammy Event will hold on the 10th of February 2019.
