Nigerian global stars Yemi Alade, Tiwa Savage, Mr Eazi, Wizkid and Tekno will appear appear in a Lion King inspired album produced by US star, Beyoncé. The album is due for release on Friday July 19.

The album tracklist and posse cuts were posted on the official site of the US singer’s page yesterday.

Top artists from other African countries like South Africa and Ghana also appeared on the project.

Moonchild Sanelly and Busiswa repped South Africa while dancehall superstar Shatta Wale stood up for Ghana.

The album is titled The Lion King: The Gift and it featured some of the songs used on the project.

Beyoncé, who voiced the character Nala in the movie, has even called the soundtrack “a love letter to Africa”.

“I wanted to make sure we found the best talent from Africa and not just use some of the sounds and did my interpretation of it. I wanted it to be authentic to what is beautiful about the music in Africa,” she told ABC TV in an interview.

Some of the other artists who appeared on the project include Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar and Cannes Lions Grand Prix winner, Childish Gambino.

The addition of Afrobeats’ heavyweight artists into The Lion King soundtrack offers the film a glorious opportunity to be accepted on the continent and in the diaspora.
