Yemi Alade: “There’s No ‘Number One Artist’ In Nigeria”

Yemi Alade has stated that there is no “number one” artist in Nigeria presently.

She said during a recent interview with Hot 98.3FM that most of the top five artists in the country can comfortably sell out the same venue.

“The truth is the top five artists in Nigeria that are the biggests in Africa can shut down the same capacity,” Mama Africa said.

“The same capacity Wizkid shuts down in Africa, I hold it down; same capacity Davido shuts down in Africa, I hold it down; same venues, same capacity. So there’s no number one,”

Yemi Alade, who is famous and well-respected in African countries, especially in Francophone countries, said the position of number one Nigerian musician is still up for grabs.

“We’re all trying to be number one. Someone said yesterday that there’s no number one. That’s why everybody is competing to be number one.”
