Autopsy results have reportedly revealed the cause of Tagbo Umeike’s death to be alcohol and drug-related, a report by Daily Post confirmed.
According to reports, the 35 year old had excess blood alcohol levels which could lead to hypothermia and eventual death.
The toxicology tests revealed that the deceased had Bacardi 151, which contained about 75.5% alcohol, and topiramate medication in his system.
Umeike’s blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was put at 0.112, higher than the limit for normal human state, which was 0.08.
Topiramate is a medication used to manage epilepsy and migraines, leaving hints that the deceased might have been ill prior to his death.
However, Umeike’s family has refuted claims that he had any topiramate prescription.
A statement by the coroner’s office stated that: “Alcohol and topiramate are synergistic. When combined, the effect of either or both drugs is enhanced.
“Topiramate, like alcohol, can cause dizziness, impaired memory, impaired concentration, poor coordination, confusion and impaired judgment.
“Central nervous system depression, or impairment, combined with cold exposure can hasten the onset of hypothermia and death.”
While the outcome of the autopsy may seemingly have exonerated Davido from the incident, official statements clearing him from accusation of complicity are yet to be issued.
