Nigerian rapper, Babalola “Sinzu” Falemi, has been released from a federal prison in the United States, the rapper was convicted 2016 after being found guilty of aggravated identity theft.

Sauce Kid, as he was formerly known, was accused of stealing bank card numbers and identifying the owners’ information. He reportedlymoved fifteen thousand three hundred and eighty eight thousand ($15,388) from his victims’ accounts.

Falemi’s release was confirmed Saturday, after a video of him surfaced on the internet.

The father of one was seen wearing a black t-shirt and a black durag, typical of his pre-conviction period.

“My bro is back!” A caption on the video reads.

Until his release recently, some of the rapper’s old associates like: Adey, Dammy Krane and a host of others had been clamouring for his release on social media with the hashtag #FreeSinzu.

Adey and popular street artist, Olamide, had referenced the rapper in a recent song titled “Oluwa Wavy”.

“Oluwa Wavy, Oluwa Sinzu, Oluwa free all my mandem.” Adey sang in the hook of the song.

A song titled “Free Sinzu” by Dammy Krane was also released around January.

Prior to his conviction, the rapper was making efforts to restage a comeback after his career took a hit, a move that was further thwarted by his unfortunate 2-year sentence.

Sauce Kid is best known for his hit singles: “Sanboribobo”, “E Don Dey Madt”, “Sinzu Is Sinzu”, “Under G” and “Carolina”.

His debut mixtape, Best of Both Worlds: Money Long The Mixtape, came out in 2006 and is regarded as one of the most acclaimed projects by a Nigerian rapper.
