X3M Music singer, Praiz, was allegedly arrested by men of the infamous Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police force on 10th December, 2017.

According to a report by TheNetNg, the singer was arrested on his way to an end of the year party organised by his record label, X3M Music.

Praiz was said to have been taken to the Ajah Police Station and was remanded in the police station for several hours.

The singer confirmed in an Instagram post that he only regained his freedom after the intervention of the Assistant Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Aliyu Giwa, and Etim Godwin of the J Command.

He said while the police have several great individuals in its rank, there was the need for it to be completely reformed and sensitised.

“People on their way to get their daily bread but get harassed by people who are the Force because of reasons best known to them or maybe because u are a young boy wearing a gold chain or have a beard.”

He added that he would continue to advocate against improper conduct by the police as his experience had reinforced the need to do so.

“Though I won’t deny the existence of great people in the police force that are ready to listen, I still stand by my opinion which is popular amongst the youth and more #ENDSARS. Today I learnt that the police force needs deep reform and sensitization.”

The police are yet to issue a public statement confirming or denying the arrest.
