Reekado Banks has left Mavin Records. He announced the decision just a day after his birthday, December 6.

Reeky announced that he left the label in a long, emotive post on Instagram today, December 7. Less than a few weeks ago, there had been rumours that Banks had already left.

His latest Instagram post confirmed the decision while also unveiling his future plans.

“Today, I write in tears, not from a place of of pain,” Reekado Banks wrote in the post.

“But of joy and gratitude. A place of bliss and satisfaction because I am more than contented with how far this opportunity has brought me.”

The singer was signed to Mavin Records in 2013 alongside Di’ja and Korede Bello.

“The last five years have been the most blissful years of my career, The journey has been extremely wonderful and filled with the best experiences.

Reeky described joining the Don Jazzy-owned label as the best thing ever happened to him.

“Joining the Mavin Records family was the best thing to have happened to me in the last decade. Don Jazzy took me in and treated me like his own son. I’ll be eternally grateful to him for sacrifices he made towards the growth of my career.

“Taking this bold step and moving on from Mavin Records onto bigger opportunities is something that, though not easy, is absolutely necessary because of my growth.”

Reekado Banks released his debut album, Spotlight under the Mavin label in 2016.
