Nigerian rap star, Olamide, has announced the launch of his own television station, Voice Of The Streets (VOTS), that he claims will “change the face of entertainment in Africa”.

The rapper wrote on his Instagram page that the station is going live from today, Thursday 15th March, 2018, which is also his 29th birthday.

“Let’s all welcome our brand new baby ‘Voice Of The Street’ (VOTS). Our television; my television; your television… Be heard…@votstvng is only available on PLAY Satellite TV transmitter.”

By establishing the station, Olamide has become one of the first entertainers to own a television station in Africa.

Voice Of The Streets TV is exclusive to Play TV, a new satellite service that charges ₦1,000 monthly for access. As part of the launch, Olamide is reportedly handing 100 free Play TV decoders today.

Olamide said he was inspired to establish the station by his son, Batifèori Adedeji, as well as his late parents.

“This is also for the day ones who’s been supporting ruthlessly through the thick and thin, those who believed in me when I didn’t even have an idea how far i’d go in this journey.”

Recall that VOTS was the title of a song off the rapper’s second album YBNL, released in 2012.
