Who is the proponent of Shaku Shaku dance? Filterfree reported earlier this year that the dance came about as a description of “Awawa Boys’”reaction after they get drunk. Mr. Real said his music brought more spotlight to Shaku Shaku.

The singer in an interview with Planetradio TV did not claim he was the proponent of the dance. Even though he noted that his single, “Legbegbe” may have “in a way” made Shaku Shaku popular and widely accepted.

To a good extent, Mr. Real’s statement may not be wrong. Since the release of “Legbegbe” the dance became more accepted. His sound also became the unofficial Shaku Shaku sound.

Although, in the absence of enough data to back up the claim, the whole claim is not entirely reliable.

Mr. Real said he first saw the Shaku Shaku dance in one of Olamide’s video for his 2017 hit single, “Wo”.

“The truth is that Shaku Shaku is a dance, yeah. And the first time I saw that Shaku Shaku was on Olamide’s “Wo”.”

Apparently, Mr. Real is not the only musician who saw Shaku Shaku first in Olamide’s video. In an episode of LooseTalk, Brymo also claimed he had first seen the dance in the “Wo” video.

Mr. Real explained that while people saw the dance, they did not pay much attention to it until “Legbegbe” was released.

“I think people did not really look into it. [They think it’s] a normal dance, that’s it. But when “Legbegbe” came out and we put the dance into it and every [blended] it was making sense. Let me just say when “Legbegbe” came with the Shaku Shaku it became popular.”
