MI Abaga’s response to a tweet by his former manager, Obinna Agwu, has left a not-so-good impression on the state of their relationship, and how MI’s label, Chocolate City, is being run.
Agwu had written a tweet supposedly intended to caution artists signed to what he called “mortuary labels”.
– You've been signed to that label for 3 years and still nobody knows you.
– You've only shot 2 cheap videos in 4 years. – Promoting your music is a struggle.
– No official budget and timeline for your project..
– Meanwhile, the clowns are still trying to sign new artistes…— Agwu Obinna. (@d_angrymob) May 31, 2018
The tweet has so far generated several reactions from people, but MI’s response, which was posted yesterday, was most notable.
MI responded in a manner that suggested the rapper felt the tweet was asubliminal directed at him.
“Full disclosure, I’m a label guy. However, labels have done way more for this industry.” MI tweeted.

A back and forth would then ensue between Abaga and Obinna Agwu, as Agwu claimed that he did not direct the tweet to MI or his label, Chocolate City.
“Perhaps, the attributes highlighted in my tweet aligned too closely with your labels MO?” Obinna Agwu wrote, suggesting that MI was sabotaging the careers of artists signed to his label.
Of course, we know you're a label guy. What I don't understand is why you're so triggered by this tweet when I didn't mention your name, your label or any other label for that matter. Perhaps, the attributes highlighted in my tweet aligned too closely with your labels MO??

MI Abaga would later respond, albeit metaphorically: “The real danger is ‘vultures’ who hang around the industry with no real skin in the game quick to point out everyone else’s flaws.”

The veteran rapper would then note that he and Obinna Agwu were long-term associates, citing it as a reason for his former manager to stop peddling “dangerous narratives”.
Bro.. you and I go way back!!! But I don't subscribe to this dangerous narative.. out some respect on the contributions of YBNL DMW CC Storm QM Kennis EME etc
