The rollout for Mayorkun’s debut album, The Mayor of Lagos has commenced. Mayorkun started mouthing the impending release around October.
It began with a terse announcement of the title of the album. Then, in latter days, things started to gather momentum.
One of the rollout activity for The Mayor of Lagos — TMOL for short — is a FIFA game battle between Mayorkun and Simi. If Mayorkun won, he would release his debut project. He did win.
“Album out soon!” Mayorkun announced in all caps on Twitter after the challenge.
The artist is now fast-tracking the rollout process. Yesterday, he unveiled the tracklist and cover art for the project.
Mayorkun also announced the release date of the album. The singer wrote on Twitter that the album will drop on the 16th of November.
“The Mayor Of Lagos! Album out next Friday.. Nov 16th! Big ups to everyone who’s been part of this amazing journey,” he wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, The Mayor of Lagos will have only 14 songs. The album houses some of Mayorkun’s earlier released singles.
The artist included five of his best performing songs in the project. These songs are: “Mama”, “Che Che”, “Bobo” alongside “Fantasy” and “Posh”.
“Red-handed”, “Mofo”, “Oshepete”, “Aya Mi”, “Tire”, “Sope” also make-up part of the album.
Other songs on the project include: “Drama Queen” and “Jonze Me”.
Unsurprisingly, Mayorkun featured Davido and his DMW cohorts, Peruzzi, Dremo and Yonda.
He also managed to enlist big names, Sarkodie, D’Banj and Patoranking.
The album was produced by Speroach Beatz, Fresh VDM, Cracker Mallo, Killertunes, Kiddominant, Northboi, DJ Coublon and Phantom.
