The condoms that littered the venue of Mayorkun’s show in Ibadan was not because of “reckless sex” as many online platforms reported.

The “Mayor” concert which held at Palms City Mall saw appearances by Davido, Dremo (who recently released an EP) and Terri of Starboy.

A sexual awareness programme had held at the mall prior to Mayorkun’s performance.

“As regards condoms everywhere, apparently there was a sex awareness program going on in the mall,”

Mayorkun said in a series of tweet today that the venue for the event was overwhelmed with enthusiastic crowd waiting to watch him perform.

He explained that this prompted him to request for more security at the venue of the event as they had to deal with over 13,000 people, in lieu of the 5000 people earlier expected.

“So I planned to see 5000 to 7000 people yesterday but I was shocked to see 13,000 people,” Mayorkun wrote in one of the tweets.

“I was ready to perform 2-3 hours before I performed, but I promised maximum security so as soon as I got news on how packed the mall was, had to get more security,”
