The Headies may have passed but the award for Rookie of the year was just presented to Mayourkun. The DMW Act beat Dice Ailes, fellow label mate Dremo, Terry Apala and Mz Kiss to emerge as the winner.
The organizers have given the reason for presenting this category after the awards. They said in a statement:
“The reason why the winner of this category wasn’t announced during the live show was because majority of the nominees were late for their opening performances and the show had to go on,”
Mayorkun got the highest vote and emerged as the winner followed closely by his label mate Dremo and coming in third place was Chocolate City act Dice Ailes after all the votes and entries from the public had been counted.
