Since the beginning of this year, the Nigerian music industry has had its fair share of industry feuds either between artists and their labels, or artists and their colleagues. This beef sometimes turnout messy, while some are just outrightly flat.

But Five Star Music frontliner, KCee, has pointed out that music beefs are healthy for the growth of the industry.

Recall that earlier this year, the singer’s label had parted ways with one of its best artist, Harrysong, due to some irreconcilable disagreements.

KCee told HIPTV that industry disses were often intentional attempts by artists to direct people’s attention to their works.

“Even when you know you’re going to resolve this issue or it is something you don’t need to [drag] you just have to do it. Because if you do this it’s going to trend. Imagine when you’re talking to your friend, you have an issue then you’re recording a skit for your friend, record it and post it. What are you looking for? You’re looking for the attention.”

He said while this might be the case on most occasions, artists often brought out their private disagreements to the public domain when they had real issues to iron out.

Kcee claimed that when such issues were not properly addressed they might degenerate into bigger issues.
