Announcing big endorsement deals has become a sort of trend for artists now. But Duncan Mighty claimed these announcements are the bane of artists.

The singer made the claim during an interview on Planetradio TV recently.

Wene Mighty said oftentimes management companies make false announcements just to boost the public image of artists.

“The management companies are not helping. A company will endorse an artist and the management company will call it something else in the name of hype and packaging,” Duncan Mighty noted.

“They’ll tell the public the artist got the endorsement for $1bn, $500. At the end of the day, the guy is still renting an apartment; the guy is still broke.”

Duncan Mighty challenged management companies to stop deceiving the public about the nature of the the deals artists are signing with companies.

He explained that when management lied about the nature of endorsements it became really difficult to secure help when it was really needed.

“Management should stop lying about what they gave an artist. Some endorsements are not even money: some endorsements are, we have 200 shows for the year, we’d give you the 200 shows and we want to make sure you’re available.”

“It’s not every endorsement that’s ‘because we have you on our product you have ₦10m’. This is why when most of them are dying they can’t call others. Because you’ve already boasted that you bought a home in Banana Island.”
