Waje has released her sophomore album, Red Velvet. Red Velvet was released in the early hours of today.
The singer was on several radio stations in Lagos today to talk about the new album.
The album is now available for purchase on every digital platforms.
Red Velvet is coming five years after the release of the acclaimed eponymous album, W.A.J.E.
Red Velvet has only 10 songs, a size rather befitting of EP. This is a hint the singer could have changed her mind after promising to release an EP before the year ends.
Red Velvet is touted as an album comprising of diverse sounds. Although, the singer would retain the “love” subject matter in her music.
“Most thrilling about this album is even though Waje sings about love, we are treated to several genres, stories, and, most importantly, vocal dexterity. From the soulful tracks like ‘Calm Down’, which has some jazz influence.”
The project enlisted support from Adekunle Gold and Mavin Records singer, Johnny Drille.
Here are the songs on the album:
“The Truth”, “Why?”, “Stupid”, “Udue”, “Oh My”, “Soldier”, “Cam Dan”, “Be Mine”, “Got Sauce” and “Got Ya Back”.
Meanwhile, Guardian Nigeria describes the album as a “medley of the singer’s diverse styles”.
