Burna Boy is in another legal trouble, this time with a creative firm named Insecta Studios. The firm offers an array of services ranging from Branding & Graphic Design, Illustration & Animation to Graffiti & Photography, Digital Marketing strategy and a host of others.

Insecta Studios is suing Burna Boy for copyright infringement and demanding the sum of 20 Million naira as damages. Also a party to the lawsuit is his record label, Aristokrat Records.

Burna Boy allegedly used an artwork which was created specifically for him by the company and which he used without compensating or remunerating them.  After a few rough sketches were done and sent to him and his record label, they cut off communication with the Insecta Team.

According to Insecta Studios, the same design was later used as his backdrop for his Essence Festival in South Africa hence the lawsuit.

The studio is also demanding the following:

  1. A court order compelling the defendants to publish a public apology in a reputable national newspaper for infringement of the plaintiffs’ copyright.

2. An order compelling the defendants to publicly acknowledge the plaintiffs’ copyright and authorship of the artistic work in a reputable national newspaper and on the defendants’ social media platforms.

This is coming on the wake of a rumoured injunction filed against him by his former promoters, Vibesland Entertainment, preventing him from performing in the United States of America. His management have since dismissed this as nothing but lies.
