Music streaming platform, Boomplay Music is expected to double its user base to 40 million by December 2018.

The platform which currently has 29 million users just hit 10 million installs on Google Play store.

Tosin Sorinola, Head of PR at Boomplay said during a briefing in Lagos that the milestone was possible because of the support of content providers and users of the platform.

“This is another major milestone for Boomplay Music,” Sorinola said.

“We are grateful for the support and involvement of our content providers, users and the team that made it possible to achieve this by sharing the vision of making Boomplay Music the No. 1 Music App in Africa. This is the first of many more milestones to come and a renewed future for digital music distribution.”

Regional Director (West Africa) Boomplay Music, Oye Akindeinde said the continuous feedback from the application’s users ensured they have to keep making improvements on its experience.

“We keep improving based on your feedback, which is so vital for our service’s growth. This new milestone is a step closer to building the largest and most sustainable music ecosystem for artist and fans in Africa.”

Boomplay has music contents from a wide variety of genres including: Fuji; afrobeats, afropop, reggae and many others. The application is not available for iPhone users yet.
