There is pride in sole proprietorship; you are your own master, the owner of everything. It is the same with exclusive relationships. You are sure your partner is yours and nobody else’s. This is the kind relationship Fireboy DML wants in his song, “Jealous”.
The video for “Jealous” attempts to show how much the singer wanted an exclusive relationship with his love interest. For a good part of it, he did enjoy that exclusivity.
However, as things start to progress, the exclusivity he sought in his lover becomes elusiveness. He soon realises he has to fight for it. And fight for it he did.
On the part of his love interest, the feeling is not mutual. Fireboy DML is only a checkpoint for her. She has registered her own presence with the singer and there is another checkpoint and she goes for it.
The singer then proceeds to fight for what he believes in. He goes after his love interest. He decides to chase his love interest and what he finds has his mouth agape.
