Urban-folk singer, Mo’believe has been working hard on his craft for a few years now. The years of hard work is now paying off.

The singer opened for SDC at the 2018 Palmwine Fest. He then moved forwards to performing at the 2019 Gidifest. Before these string of performances, Mo’believe released debut EP, Ariwo Eko.

One of the songs off the project, “Bi Oba” now has a video. The video was shot with support from Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa project.

Many Nigerians don’t rate musicians. This is especially common in Yoruba land, a tribe whose language Mo’believe sings in. They believe that music is largely for loafers and never-do-well. This belief still holds strong up to this moment.

This cultural insight is what Mo’believe latches on to create a tune that’s both lasting and relevant. The singer confidently dispels the undesirable perception most people have for musicians, while describing musicians as “royalty” in their own right.

“We’re doing what destiny asks us to do,” Mo’believe sings on “Bi Oba”.

The remix of the song features an extra verse and an outro, which adds to the freshness of the song. “Bi Oba” is one of those well-done songs seeking to elevate the status of musicians in the society — and with his assured lyrics, Mo’believe accomplishes that mission.
