Wizkid has teased his collaboration with Future Hendrix for some time now and built anticipation for its release. We didn’t doubt that there was actually a collaboration, what we doubted was whether it would actually be out soon. Wizkid still owes us a couple of projects this year, including a mixtape with Wande Coal, but that’s a topic for another day.

The Future collabo was initially due for release last month but due to Wizkid’s health issues, the release had to be postponed.

Thank God for good health for it has now brought us “Everytime”, an instant club banger that could bring ATLiens and Lagosians together. On the record, Wizzy and Future trade stories on how good their girls make them feel, how they want to treat her to the finer things, and how their own mothers are telling them that she’s the one.

Baby when you leave, I no go leave oh
Girl I wanna stay here with you
Mama tell me make I steady live life
Make I no dey jonze, make i dey there for you oh

Mama approves! The record is so collaborative that the chorus is almost indistinguishable as both artists dovetail seamlessly. Future even tries out some Nigerian pidgin English by repeating some of Wizzy’s lines.

I remember when me mummy say
If I ever leave, I’ll never find no one like you
And I always get a feeling that
If I love you back, you’ll love me too

“Everytime” was produced by Shizzi, a friend and longtime producer of Wizkid’s arch-nemesis Davido. The two worked together previously in 2014 on “Show You The Money” off Wizkid’s sophomore album Ayo. The Wizkid/Davido relationship isn’t in the best place right now, it’s therefore good to see that, despite their affiliations, the two continue to work together to elevate the culture.
