The fact that Nigeria is the entertainment capital of Africa is no news. The other fact that Nigeria is so generous and magnanimous, with a very big heart, is also not news. What is news is the fact that one of Nigeria’s gifts to the world, Mr Eazi, whose “government name” is Tosin Ajibade, a Ghanaian music star, has just caught my attention with his style of music. It is kind of different from what we are used to. He is not new here, we already met him.
Immediately you hear Eazi’s songs, and you realize he is described as “Ghanaian star”, that Nigerian blood in you recognizes him as one of yours. His beats give him away almost immediately.
Ghana has managed to synthesize its own Afro-pop sound called “Ghana beats”. It is what you hear in a Sarkodie or Joey B recording. Some Naija artistes have already “borrowed” it in their music, because it does sound good.
Mr. Eazi does not use that beat in his songs. He uses the recognizable Nigerian beats, something close to Lamba.
Anyway, lets leave beats alone and jump into his music.
Below are some of his hits currently enjoying airplay on the continent. Trace is OD-ing on some of them, they give it at least five plays in a day by my conservative count. I am OD’ing too. His biggest hit right now is “Dance For Me” a dance song that will get many choreographers scampering for safety. Others are Hollup, Skintight where he featured Efya, and Anointing in which he featured Sarkodie, arguably Africa’s best rapper at the moment.
Let me share some of his music below. Enjoy.

We are proud of the good work he is doing and how he is being a good ambassador of Port Harcourt, where he was born, and of Nigeria, the source of the music the rest of Africa is dancing to.
This is a celebration of our own.
