A bulk of collaborations these days are just efforts to display access. Or mainly marketing drive. Not because of an existing chemistry & fitness of sounds between the artists collaborating.
Singer, Yung L has said collaborations are inconsequential to music audience.
The singer stated this in a Planetradio TV interview recently.
He said music fans only want to listen to music that appeal to them, not the calibre of artists on the song.
“Music is about vibes. If you have the right vibe, whether it’s a big artists or small artist, as long as the music comes out great, it doesn’t matter.” Yung L said.
Mr. Marley also stated that there songs which did not have any major artists on them that made it to the top of music charts.
He said major features might help boost the download rates of some songs, but it won’t do much in the long run.
“People don’t care about who you featured. It may help with download numbers, but at the end of the day if the song is not sweet it would only last as long on the person’s laptop — they’d delete the song.”
Yung L maintained that it is the quality of the song that’d determine if the song is well-accepted or not.
