Yemi Alade has revealed that there was more to making money off music than the common formula of making hit songs.
The singer explained to HIPTV that the ability of an artiste to make money off music depended on the value the artiste had managed to create.
Alade said craftsmanship was more important to an artiste than anything else.
She insisted that making hit songs was only a marginal part of profitability in music as artistes might have hit songs and still not get booked for shows.
“Some people have hit songs, they get booked, but they don’t get paid. Some people don’t have hit songs, they get book and they get paid.”
“What separates these two people is the craftsmanship. It is creating value other than just making music.”
“People don’t just want someone who has a great song. They want the entire package.”
