Waje has began the rollout process for her sophomore album, Red Velvet. Red Velvet now already has a cover art and tracklist out.
The singer announced the tracklist and the cover art in the late hours of yesterday. The release date for the project is yet to be announced.
However, indications are that the project would be released in the early months of 2019.
Earlier this year, Waje stated in an interview that she would release two EPs between the end of 2018 and 2019.
“I will be dropping one E.P on my birthday [September 1st], and I have another E.P in February 2019, and then, I am dropping a Reggae album next year.”
The singer did not release the EP on her birthday, as stated in the interview. There was also no public statement as to why the project was not released.
The upcoming album, Red Velvet will have only 10 songs, a size rather befitting of EP. This is a hint the singer could have changed her mind through the process.
Red Velvet is touted as an album comprising of diverse sounds. Although, the singer would retain the “love” subject matter in her music.
“Most thrilling about this album is even though Waje sings about love, we are treated to several genres, stories, and, most importantly, vocal dexterity. From the soulful tracks like ‘Calm Down’, which has some jazz influence.”
Red Velvet, if released this year, would come just about 5 years after the release of W.A.J.E.
The upcoming project enlisted support from Adekunle Gold and Mavin Records singer, Johnny Drille.
Here are the songs on the album:
“The Truth”, “Why?”, “Stupid”, “Udue”, “Oh My”, “Soldier”, “Cam Dan”, “Be Mine”, “Got Sauce” and “Got Ya Back”.
