With over 19,700 tweets since yesterday, Wizkid tops the ranking of trends in Nigeria. But it is not for a good reason, Starboy was unable to make the trip to Los Angeles for the Coachella Music Festival and potential concertgoers are not only angry, but disappointed that he could not make it.

Wizkid should do better, people say.

This is not the first time Wizkid would be missing a huge American concert he was scheduled to perform at. In September 2017, the Ojuelegba-star was supposed to perform at the “Made In America” concert, an event put together by Beyoncé and Jay-Z. He could not show up because of his ill health.

This time around, Wizkid’s band was reportedly not granted entry visa to the United States. What makes the miss disappointing was because he had 8 months to make travel arrangements for the show. And now, he would perform only a week after: The buzz of the festival would have died down by this time.

Full details about the reasons are yet to be made public. Although, there are conjectures and numerous reactions online as to why the highly-rated star could have let this happened to him.

We curated some of the reactions below:

While this user acknowledges Wizkid’s talent, he says Wizzy does not work hard enough.

“Wizkid coming up with excuses these days: Passport renewal got delayed, visa issues, feeling sick, trying to catch his breathe… Talent is great, but hard work cuts the Cheque!”

Another tweep, Dondekojo, also believes somehow that Wizkid’s Nigerian citizenship cost him the chance to perform at the event.

“See why foreign citizenship is good? Davido cannot have such Visa problems. Wizkid is missing a lot of huge shows because of this. Could be down to his non chalance but he needs a better team that can hire good travel agents.”

This user, KhaleesiNU is blunt about it. She says Wizkid is unprofessional.

“Wizkid is very unprofessional and I’m actually shocked at how far he has come with that attitude. It’s actually embarrassing. Like when VICE came to Nigeria to interview him and he couldn’t make time. Lol the entire documentary ended up being about his flakiness.”

Oluniyi Gates writes that Wizkid still deserves to be respected for even getting booked to perform at a show Beyonce was performing.

“…Just talent and will, he turned all that into getting booked to perform on the same night as Beyonce. You don’t achieve that by being lazy in the music industry. Sit your hurt asses down.”

This person thinks Wizkid was right to have not showed up at the event. He could not do it alone after all.

“Imagine a Beyoncé performance without her choreography and dancers. No. It’s Wizkid that should go without his team so you people can criticize him for doing “DJ track 2””

Wizkid responds:
