Terry G has followed up his written apology with another one, on video this time, and it was duly accepted by DJ Jimmy Jatt.

However, Jimmy Jatt also added that he would forward Terry’s apology to the Deejays Association of Nigeria (DJAN). So just because Terry has apologized, it doesn’t mean the ban on his music has automatically been lifted. Although how the body will go against the wishes of its most prominent member remains to be seen.

The ban was placed earlier in the week by DJAN. In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Sebastian Ikpoza aka DJ Desert Storm, the organization placed an indefinite ban on Terry’s music after the infamous slapping incident last weekend.

The statement read –

The Deejays Association of Nigeria hereby place an embargo on all songs of Terry G, audio and video (including songs he featured in) indefinitely in all events, lounges, bar, radio and every other spot where it is the duty of a DJ to play music Nationwide

DJAN was formed in 2011 and is a body registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). DJ Jimmy Jatt was vice chairman of the organization at its launch, while Mr. Lanre Falano was the chairman. A few months ago, DJAN merged with the National Association of Nigerian Deejays (NANDJS) and the organization is currently in talks to work more closely with the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON). However, not much is known of the organization and what they do.

This incident is therefore a great opportunity for DJAN to showcase their value as an interest group to DJ’s weary of joining and a deterrent to artists, corporate bodies and the general public unaware that DJ’s in Nigeria have a backbone that will protect their collective interest.
