Teni has described the involvement of women in the Nigerian music scene as “getting better”. This is coming barely a week after music commentator, Osagie Alonge said her appearance was not fit of a musician in the industry.
The Entertainer said in a front-page interview for One Tribe Magazine that more women are taking charge of affairs in the music industry than before.
Teni explained in the interview that Nigerian women need to support themselves if they were ever going to make it up to the same level as their male counterparts.
“The music scene for women is getting better,” the singer told One Tribe.
“Women are taking charge, doing great things. The likes of Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Niniola, and so on are starting to hold big concerts outside the country. It didn’t use to be like that. We just have to keep supporting one another.”
The Nigerian music industry is renowned for its complete male dominance, but things are changing following the involvement of more female actors.
