Singer-songwriter, Kay Jay Ogbonna has signed a record deal with The Boost Entertainment. The deal is said to amount to a couple million naira.
The signing was announced yesterday in a statement released by the management of the entertainment company.
The Boost Entertainment will now handle bookings, management and other affairs for the singer.
Subsequently, Kay Jay would also announce the release date for his new work which features, Blaq Jerzee.
The singer would then announces a series of new endorsement deals he has signed.
“I signed with The Boost Entertainment firstly because we have the same vision,” Kay Jay said in his unveiling statement.
“I see them making me one of the biggest artists in Nigeria and beyond. Despite being newly established, this is one of the first and few music management companies in Nigeria that fund the artist, and I feel that is how it should be – it gave me even more assurance to work with them. They are not just bringing funds, strategy and ideas; they are bringing full hands-on involvement and direction, with a unique attention to visual content creation – this is the structure that many (new/upcoming and young) Nigerian artists require to launch and succeed, our problems have always been how to finance and how to promote our music.”
Kay Jay said he intend to write a book about songwriting in the future.
The artist has written songs for KCee, Tunde Ednut (“Catching Cold”), Iyanya (“Iyanu Mashele”), Tillaman and a host of others.
The Boost Entertainment also reiterated Kay Jay’s position, adding that his signing was the prelude of a shift in how music content is created in the Nigerian music industry.
“Kay Jay was a mutually shared vision and approach, which led to an instant synergy and flow. With this official signing of Kay Jay our first artist, we plan to activate and create a new SI unit for music content management and creative business positioning.”
