2baba has been accused of stealing his recently released single, “Amaka” from a young artist named, Yoko B.
Filterfree did listen to the songs and find some similarities in the drum patterns, but not in the lyrics.
2baba’s version of “Amaka” was released around the end of June and it featured DMW artist, Peruzzi while Yoko B’s version was released five months ago.
Another report by Punch stated that 2baba and Yoko B’s version bore similarities in themes and rhythm.
Young singer, Yoko B while reacting to the incident said he was shocked when he discovered 2baba had not only taken the title of his song, but the entire concept behind the song.
“I was shocked when I discovered that they had ‘stolen’ the title, concept and message of my song.” Yoko B told Sunday Scoop.
The singer said the theft might have occurred when he left his songs on the laptop of another producer named, Richie, who worked with an associate of 2baba.
“The song was produced by Richie, who also did the chorus of the song. Shortly after producing my song, Richie was employed by Larry Gaga and he left FESTAC Town for Lekki where he worked with 2baba.”
Although, 2baba’s version of “Amaka” was produced by Speroachbeatzz, Yoko B said he was sure the decision to use Speroachbeatzz was an attempt to cover up their tracks.
“I am sure that somehow, 2baba must have heard the song. To cover their tracks, 2baba’s version was produced by another producer, Sperochbeatz, but they all work in the same studio.”
Meanwhile, 2baba’s manager, Efe Omoregbe has denied knowledge of the incident. He said he was not aware of the allegation against 2baba.
“This is the first time I’m hearing about that claim and I cannot comment on what I don’t know about.”
