Son of the late Afrobeat legend, Femi Anikulapo Kuti has stated clearly that he is not in support of the protest being organized by 2baba which will hold on Monday the 6th of February.
He made his reasons known to he audience at the Afrika Shrine during his weekly performance. He stated that he had been approached by 2baba who requested his permission to use the symbolic Afrika Shrine as a rallying point.
Femi gave his reason for denying the protest, stating ‘I hear say they want to do protest here, they even choose the day Sunday, Sunday is my day,’.
‘So I was thinking, 2face say some people come meet am say make he broadcast am, so no be him sit down for him house com plan am, I for no vex.’ ‘Who be the people wey come meet you?’
He added that the protest was suspicious due to these unknown elements who fed the idea to 2baba. He then distanced himself away from such reassuring fans that he isn’t a foolish man.
Whether this will affect the turnout at the protest remains to be seen.
