Seyi Shay said her migration from London to Lagos played a heavy role in her musical success.
The singer made this claim during her interview with television network, France24.
“The individuality of the music industry in Nigeria, there’s none like it,” Seyi Shay said on why the move made her flourish.
Seyi Shay explained in the interview that she had been with the girl band, From Above in the United Kingdom before.
She then proceeded to sign with Sony’s Columbia Records in the United States, through her manager, Matthew Knowles.
However, she stated that:
“We got signed to Sony Records — in America — but it just quite didn’t work the way we planned.”
The “Irawo” singer stated that she was not sure of what to expect while moving to Nigeria.
But after doing several shows and putting out music, her fanbase began to grow.
