Seun Kuti did not perform at the 2019 Grammys and he is deeply sorry for that.

The Afrobeat singer wrote in an Instagram post in the early hours of today stating why he could not perform.

“First and foremost I have to say I am sorry to all the fans that tuned in to see us perform yesterday but didn’t,” Seun Kuti wrote in the post.

Seun Kuti had missed his flight due to the “weirdest ticket mix-up in history”.

The also led him to miss the rehearsal for his performance and as such had to let it go.

“Big up to Soweto Gospel choir a group that has also inspired me. Fatoumata Diawara for holding down our show without me.”

Although, Seun Kuti made it to the awards which happened at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, he could not perform.

He also did not win the “World Music” category he was nominated for.

Meanwhile, several industry hotshots have congratulated him on his nomination.

Those who have sent their best wishes include: Steve Babaeko and Dare Alade.
