Eric Many has filed a suit of contempt against estranged label employee, Runtown. The suit is being filed following the singer’s outright disregard for court orders.

The notice of the suit was published in a Punch Newspaper daily today.

An Abuja High Court had on the 10th of May 2018 ordered that Runtown should not perform or record any song until the contract issues were sorted out.

However, the singer has gone ahead to release music with Nasty C: shot a music video; featured in other songs; and on the 27th June 2018 released a new song titled “Unleash”.

All these were issues under contention in court as Runtown was bound by the contract he’s now estranged from.

A statement by Eric Many explained: “Following our application, Abuja High Court made an Interim Order on 10th May, 2018, barring Runtown from any performance or recording of any song outside our Contract until the issues are sorted out by Court.

The Judge also ordered that status quo be maintained until our Motion praying for this protection is decided. Yet on 27th June, 2018 Runtown released a new song outside our Contract.”

The label said it expected that Runtown would remove his recently released music, “Unleashed” from streaming platforms in respect to court order. Eric Many said if the singer failed to do so, it would ensure the singer is jailed for disobeying court order.

“If he still fails to respect Court Order by removing the song, we will follow up with the next steps to ensure Runtown is committed to prison, since he is not above the law.”
