It has been around two weeks since copyright association, COSON was suspended. The suspension is yet to be lifted, even after Efe Omoregbe, the organisation’s parallel chairman promised to begin work to lift the suspension in earnest.

Rapper Ruggedman said COSON was suspended because the embattled chairman of the group, Tony Okoroji refused to leave after he was voted out by the board of directors.

Ruggedy likened Okoroji’s refusal to step down with Zimbabwe’s ex-president, Robert Mugabe’s rule which lasted over twenty years.

“The head of COSON [Tony Okoroji] refused to go when his board voted him out: When they give you a vote of no confidence, you step aside.” Ruggedman told HIPTV.

“That’s the gentlemanly thing to do. But when your office is being questioned, when they want to audit your account and you say no, it means you have something you’re hiding.”

Ruggedman stated that the board of COSON had not intended to force Tony Okoroji out of the group. He said they had only intended to audit the organisation’s account.

“If Tony Okoroji didn’t have anything to hide he would not want to stop them from auditing the account. But now he doesn’t want them to audit the account: He was throwing lawsuit around [at anyone who questioned him].”
