Chocolate City Rapper, MI Abaga, has issued another wake up call to Nigerian rappers over the present position of Nigerian hip-hop in Africa.

MI told Goldmyne TV in an interview that he was disappointed with the present state of hip-hop in the country.

This is not the first time MI has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way Nigerian hip-hop is: In 2017 he released his highly controversial single, “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Life”, to address the issue.

The Chocolate City boss also claimed that South African Rap was far ahead of Nigeria’s Rap as regards the quality of content in their songs.

MI said he was hopeful that his upcoming album would be catalyst to bringing down the disparities between South African Hip-hop and Nigerian hip-hop in the area of quality of content.

In March 2018, MI, in collaboration with Sound City and British Council, will kick-start Nigeria’s first hip-hop festival, Waha.
