Phyno’s “Fada Fada” has only been out for two weeks and it’s already lighting up parts of the continent where they don’t even speak English. The single has been an instant hit in Nigeria as well, racking up 44 plays to land at #8. Tee Blaq surprisingly finds a place for himself on the Top 10, his single “Gbemileke” lands quietly at #9.
Talented R&B singer Tjan is the highest debutant on the charts with “Aduke”, the Cobhams-produced single just missed out on the Top 10 by 1 slot. The lowest debutant is Mr. 2Kay, his follow up to “Count it all Joy” is called “Ladder” and it steps in at number 98. “Count it all Joy” is still on the charts too, 2Kay’s breakout single peaked at #11 but is currently stationed at #36. Mr. Olu Maintain is making a mini-comeback, with “Excuse My French (Excusez mon Francais)” coming in at an impressive #3 and his other song “Cinderella” gathering 21 spins and landing at #52.
Darey’s “Pray For Me” practically lives on the charts these days, this is its 37th week and the song was given a big boost with the release of a second video recently. However, Darey doesn’t have the longest staying song on the charts, that award is shared by Korede Bello (Godwin) and DJ Shabsy (Raba), both songs have been on now for 40 weeks. G Worldwide Records is going to press with claims that DJ Shabsy is the DJ with the most viewed video on YouTube but that’s not their only impressive achievement, the label has the artists with the number 1 and 7 records in the country – Kiss Daniel (Mama) and Sugarboy (Hola Hola). Kiss Daniel’s debut album New Era was released last week and has received mostly positive reviews.
