Pepenazi said he did not expect his meteoric rise to fame. But admitted a combination of hard work and luck brought him success.
The singer first made his big break in the music industry after the release of “Illegal” in 2015. The song featured YBNL’s Olamide.
The song “Illegal” would later become the launchpad of Pepenazi’s music career.
“To be truthful, when things started happening for me — that was 2015 — I never knew that that projection would be so high.” Pepenazi said.
Pepenazi explained on HIPTV “Street With” episode that the success of his the single could be attributed to “right” networks.
He said prior to the time “Illegal” was released he had done several music and participated in social events to know avail.
“I just knew that there’s something I’m going to do that’d wow a lot of people at the latter. I got out of school, then I started doing music back when I was in FUTA.
“I just took that into to the industry and I was able to make things happen for myself: meet the right people; make the right connect. And before you knew what was happening, I had a couple of songs then ‘Illegal’ was the joker.”
