Nigerian singer, Pepenazi has called on fellow artists in the country to always give credit whenever they sampled other people’s work.

Pepe said this in a recent interview with Planetradio TV where he also cited examples of artists who give proper credit.

Pepenazi said acknowledging samples and influences on works does not take away anything from the song.

“Let’s use Davido as an example where we have “If”,” Pepenazi said.

““If” was a sample of “Obianuju” which Duncan Mighty was on. That was a good sample. And Davido was able to make mention of it like ‘yo, Duncan Mighty had a great influence on this tune’. Now look at how big that tune is.”

Pepenazi said Nigerian artists should learn to appreciate themselves better than they are doing.
