Ghanaian Radio/Television personality Nana Opoku, popularly called as Ashes, has called on Ghanaian musicians and industry players to rise against Ghanaian DJs playing Nigerian songs.
According to him, Nigerian artists get more airplay in the neighboring country than the artists from that country.
He added that Nigerian DJs will never give preference to Ghanaian artists over their own so why should the same not be done in his country. He claimed that he was in a meeting where Nigerian artists insisted that DJs stop playing Ghanaian music, which they complied with.
Ashes stated that if artistes and industry players campaigned against DJs playing Nigerian songs, there would be no need to invite Nigerian artistes to perform here and pay them huge amounts because they have great musicians who are better than Nigerians.
“It is sad that Nigerian artistes like Patoranking, Flavour, Round Town, Mr. Eazi and Timaya made it big in Ghana before their own country accepted them. he added. There is no way Nigerians would accept a Ghanaian artiste to shine over there so why do we entertain them here?” he asked.
