Only a few weeks ago, Nonso Amadi’s smash single, “Tonight” was nominated for The Headies 2018. But a statement released today by the organisers of the award, Smooth Promotions said the nomination has been withdrawn.
A few corrections were also made to the nominees list. In the previous list, Tekno’s “Rara” was wrongly attributed to the artist himself, while Flavour’s song “Virtuous Woman” was wrongly attributed to Masterkraft.
“The Headies secretariat officially write to correct the following nominations which were given in error and are corrected as follows – ”Virtuous Woman’‘ by Flavour was produced by Cobhams not Mastakraft and Selebobo produced ”Rara”, not Tekno.”
Nonso Amadi’s “Tonight” which had earlier been nominated for the “Best Vocal Performance” category was withdrawn because it was released before the year under review— “Tonight” was released in 2016.
“‘Tonight’ by Nonso Amadi was removed from ‘Best RnB Single’ and ‘Best Vocal Performance (Male)’ categories because it was released before the period under review.”
The 2018 Headies is scheduled to hold on May 5, at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.
