The debate as to whether artists should outsource songwriting to songwriters has always been a contentious issue in the Nigerian music space. Singer, Niniola believes it is not a crime for artists to commission their songwriters to write songs for them.

The singer explained in a PlanetRadio TV chat that the music industry is a whole industry.

“It’s business at the end of the day,” she said.

However, Niniola stated that artists who are also songwriters have financial edge compared to those who do not write songs.

“If you’re an artists who happens to be a songwriter: Fine, that’s more money for you when it comes to publishing.”

Nini said sometimes artists may feel inadequate while creating music.

“Even if you’re a songwriting artist, sometimes you just feel ‘I just need some help’.
