One Instagram skit-maker, Victor Ebiye, has called out singer, Aramide because she won the “Best Alternative Song” category in the recently concluded The Headies 2018. When Nigerians on Twitter saw it, they were not having any of it.
The skit-maker wrote in an Instagram story that Aramide probably “f**ked the organisers” to get the award. What he probably did not know was the singer dropped her debut album, Magic, last year to critical acclaim.
His comment led to backlashes on among tweeps, as he was called out by men and women alike who defended Aramide. The reactions to the comment came at a time when the #MeToo wave is sweeping across industries and across continents.
Ebiye has however apologised for the reckless comment which he described as “a distasteful joke”. But that was not a joke because there is no element of joke in the comment. In fact, it was not funny at all.

This was not the first time the skit-maker would be making such misogynistic comments. In 2017, he made similar comment about ex Big Brother Housemates, Kemen and TBoss. There was similar outrage online. But this is an old habit, it does die hard.
