Olamide’s trendy single, “Science Student”, has been declared unfit for broadcast by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

According to Tribune, radio and television stations in the country have, during the weekend, been issued warning not to play the song.

“Science Students” came under fire among several quarters following claims that the song gratifies drug abuse.

Head of Public Affairs for the commission, Hajia Maimuna Jihada, said the song was not banned, but prohibited from the airwaves.

She explained that the commission could not outrightly ban the song because that was not the NBC’s mandate.

“NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV. Olamide’s Science Student has been declared ‘Unfit for broadcast’.”

Jihada confirmed that the song was sanctioned with the “Not To Be Broadcast” caveat because of its subtle promotion of drug abuse.
