Just last week after Wizkid’s performance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London everyone, including the hall handlers, raved about the accomplishment of the young Nigerian as the first African to headline and sell out a show at the venue.
A fact check has confirmed that everyone was wrong about this claim as there were two others before him.
In 1967, legendary South African singer, Miriam Makeba, headlined and sold out the venue as a solo act, making her the first African musician to do so.
The Royal Albert Hall also acknowledged its gaffe in a tweet made through their verified Twitter account.
Thanks to everyone who got in touch with names of other sold-out African headliners, including Miriam Makeba. We may have got that wrong.

Also, in 1993, Nigerian and British singer, Sade Adu and her band headlined and performed at the hall, making her the first Nigerian singer, or more accurately singer of Nigerian descent, to sell out the hall.
