Malawian rapper Fredokiss took to social media recently to moan the lack of support from local radio stations and roped two of Nigeria’s biggest stars into the conversation –
Some Malawian Radio DJs ask artists to pay them so they can play their music, and yet they play Davido’s music every day. Well, kinda sad but funny
The outspoken rapper added that it is sad when DJ’s ask artistes for money before they play their music, but go on to play Nigerian music 80% of the time.
He questioned the thinking behind this –
Maybe Davido and Wizkid pay them too. Maybe they chill with Peter and Paul on WA. Who knows?
The tweets have since been deleted but this isn’t the first time the outspoken rapper has aimed his fire at Nigerian artistes. He joined a considerable number of musicians and fans who questioned the public broadcaster Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) choice to include Davido’s music in an advert for their 2015 Innovation award.
Imagibe MBC Tv has an advert of some local awards called ‘Innovations Awards’ with a Nigerian song in the background and they are saying the awards are pure Malawian.
