Embattled reggae veteran, Majek Fashek, has claimed that he never relied on drugs to get inspiration while making music.

The legendary singer who has had different stints at rehab told HIPTV that press reports that he binged on drugs during the early stage of his career were all false.

“When I was in America, the Nigerian press of my time were reporting that I’m into drugs and cocaine. I never used drugs or cocaine. I almost died in America. But God saved my life.”

Majek Fashek insisted that he was a believer in God and therefore he relied on the inspiration he received from God to make his songs.

Fashek said as long as there continued to be rain his music will continue to remain very relevant.

“In every season there must be rain. So as long as there is God, the message of the prisoner of conscience, will never fade out. God always gives me the inspiration every year to write new songs.”

Majek Fashek also revealed that his team have been making effort to collaborate with younger Nigerian artists.

“2Face is a very good boy who likes and respects me. So we are collaborating on a new song. Also we are working on collaborating with Davido, Phyno and Olamide.”

The legend collaborated with 2baba last year to remix his classic song: ” No More Sorrow”.
