Chocolate City boss, M.I., has expressed his disappointment with American rap legend, Nas, who failed to honour his agreement to submit an acceptable verse for a song, JoyNews reports.

M.I. had filed a lawsuit against Nas and his partner, Ronnie Goodman, after Nas failed to deliver a satisfactory verse on his track despite being paid up to $50,000.

Nas was reportedly supposed to name-drop “M.I., Chocolate City, Nigeria, Queens, New York, Mandela, Trayvon Martin” in his verse, but he did not do so in the verse he sent to the label.

M.I. said by suing Nas he intended to just clear out a business transaction, the rapper insisted that in spite of the suit he still had respect for Nas.

“I respect Nas very much as a legend of the hip-hop game. We just want to clear out a business transaction. All I wanted to do is to do a song with one of my heroes but I’m disappointed in the way it turned out,” he explained.

He noted that it was now easier for Nigerian artists to score international collaborations due to the respect they now commanded.

The rapper also said that he was unaware of Nas’ effort to reach settlement over the agreement breech he was being sued for.

So far, there has been no comment from the American star’s label, Mass Appeal, in relation to the M.I. suit.
