Where is Zule Zoo?
The duo of Hassan “Ibro” Ibrahim and Michael Aboh who make up the group, Zule Zoo, were once household names in Nigeria. But around 2006 the group slipped off the radar and nothing was heard from them again.
As a result of this, rumours started flying about, some claimed one half of the group, Aboh, had mental issues. But for the most part, the real story was unknown until fans moved on and resigned to the fact that they may never hear from the exciting group again.
Recently in an interview with Inside Naija, the other half of the group, Ibro confirmed earlier rumours about the mental state of his partner, Aboh.
“I cannot explain what is wrong with my colleague right now. But I’m really confused—I’m still confused till this moment. Because I’m not a doctor and I’m not a spiritualist, so I wouldn’t know what is actually wrong with my colleague.”
He said he woke up one day only to find out that his colleague was going insane.
“I just woke up one morning and discovered that he is no longer the person that he used to be. ‘What’s going on? Mike, what’s going on?’ No explanation.”
“We thought there was something bothering him inside of him that when [he is] persuaded he might share with us. But to my surprise I started seeing my colleague going insane.”
Ibro said whenever he thought about the incident he always came to the point of tears. He added that he and Aboh had been together since their primary school days.
“You know what that means? He’s like a blood brother to me.” He said.
Zule Zoo became famous after the release of “Kerewa” which went on to become one of the biggest songs in Nigeria between 2005 and 2006. They would further release their first and second studio albums, Chin Panand Afro Urbanin 2005 and 2007 respectively.
