Danny Young has filed a ₦200 million copyright infringement lawsuit against singer, Tiwa Savage.

The suit number: FHC/L/CS/230/19 was addressed to Savage through her label, Mavin Records.

Young shared photos of the court documents on his Instagram in the early hours of today.

“Tiwa, I know people love you, even me, but I still have to sue you because you stole my shit,” Danny Young wrote on Instagram.

“A simple dialogue would’ve solved this, but you prefer it this way. Now you’ll be at the court discussing some ₦200,000,000 damages.”

Tiwa Savage is expected to respond to the suit before 30 days elapse.

According to court documents, the suit was filed around the 13th of February 2019.

However, the representatives of the “Lova Lova” singer and her record label are yet to respond to the suit.

Recall that many weeks ago, Danny Young had raised alarm that Tiwa Savage jacked her line from the song “Oju Ti Tiwon”.

Tiwa Savage, in her single titled “One”, had used lines similar to one from Young’s most popular single.

“Ododun la n rorogbo, ododun la n to awusa, ododun la n romobi lori igba my life don better,” Tiwa Savage crooned on “One” the same way Danny Young did on “Oju Ti Tiwon”.

Young has expressed his desire to follow through on the copyright infringement, even getting YouTube to take down the video from its platform.

Although, Tiwa Savage and her representatives managed to get YouTube to restore the video, Danny Young has intensified efforts to get properly compensated for the use of his work.

From the look of things, it is unclear whether the parties involved in the suit are going settle in the Lagos High Court, where the suit is filed, or they will opt for an out-of-court settlement.
